Did you know that your favorite gym could give you something more than big muscles? How about we tell you that your lovable gym can also give you toenail fungus?
It seems that Americans have forgotten about their feet when they started pumping irons. Gym bag, gym shoes and a whole lot of lifting is all the matters now. Sometimes, lack of foot hygiene catches up and bodybuilders end up with toenail fungus.
What in the World, Why the Gym?
When you walk into a gym, what do you see? Weight training machines, overhead lights,

However, what do we need to see if we are to discover the cause of toenail fungus?
After lifting weights for some time, some bodybuilders hit the shower. They go in completely unprotected into the gym’s bathing area. All bathrooms have been set with bathroom tiles.
Bathroom tiles require some form of bonding agent to attach to the concrete. Some use light, white cement while some use tougher synthetic glues. What do these components have in common?
The surfaces of these components are germ and fungi hotbeds.
So imagine Mr. Bodybuilder A walking into a gym’s bathing area again. He walks in barefoot and starts showering. There are some soap bubbles in his spot even before he started lathering.
Now imagine Mr. Bodybuilder A noticing that the nail on his big toe is changing color. The color might be yellow, or it might be a tinge of green. It doesn’t matter. Mr. Bodybuilder A has brittle nail fungus. Now he is wondering what happened to his feet.
Avoiding Gym Fungus
Different environments require different safety measures. The human feet are often the most abused parts of the body. In a way, they are more durable than the face or the scalp but we still need to take care of them.
If you have a 10-
When you step onto public wet tiles, wear something underfoot. If you see clean white tiles, it does not matter what you think. Those tiles are still dirty.
Vinegar Treatment
Toenail fungus from the gym can go undetected for a long time. How long, you may ask. A month is already a lucky figure. But sometimes they can go undetected for as long as 3 months.
Keep your feet as dry as possible. Sweat is an ideal feeding ground for germs and fungi. Moisture keeps the nail plates soft. The moisture feeds the microscopic fungal roots intact.
Apply vinegar treatment if you wish. Soaking your feet in household vinegar for an hour or so every night will help. Since vinegar is only mildly effective against fungi, here is what you can do to help. First, wash your feet thoroughly with hot, soapy water.
After washing your feet, dry your feet thoroughly. The spaces in between toes should be rubbed dry as well.
Use organic vinegars and not synthetic ones. Apple cider vinegar is a good choice when it comes to toenail fungus treatment.
